The thought of buying a wedding dress was one that made me a bag of nerves. The experience I found, however, was the complete opposite. From the moment I walked into the Rachel Burgess Bridal Boutique I felt comfortable and at home. Then I started trying on the special, handmade gowns by Helen and I was filled with excitement over actually getting to wear one of those special and individual dresses.

I knew Audrey was the right dress for me when I didn’t want to take her off! Then came the experience of making the Audrey the Lara! Meeting Helen and getting to put a different twist on and have the dress made specifically for me was by far the most enjoyable and exciting part of the wedding planning, especially the excitement on Helen’s face when I said can we make the train longer, no, even longer than that! From the moment we decided to go with a dramatic black bow to the back of the dress, it became the centrepiece of the wedding. The black bow was featured everywhere – the invites, the cake, and even the orders of service! I looked forward to the hours at the boutique spent tweaking and trying on, and didn’t want to leave.

No one offers the same individual and special experience that comes with meeting your designer and getting a dress made only for you – a wedding gown should be something individual and personal to you and that is something that Helen really understands. Her knowledge, talent, professionalism and bubbly personality makes you feel like a celebrity for the entirety of your wedding dress experience. I’m gutted that I no longer get to spend a Friday evening at the boutique with Helen and Rachel making my wedding dress!
