It was with trepidation that I began my search for a wedding dress. I knew that I wanted a Welsh designed wedding dress as despite living in Manchester for half my life now (18 years) I am and always will be fiercely proud to be Welsh. I stumbled across Rachel Burgess Bridal Boutique online and decided to give Rachel a call to see whether I could get an appointment for when I was next visiting family. We chatted about the type of wedding myself and my now husband was going to have, and my likes/dislikes etc.
When I arrived at the appointment with my maid of honour we were left to look at the selection of dresses while Rachel made us a cup of tea. We were both drawn instantly to the same dress and I knew that I wanted to try it on. Rachel came out with our tea with a huge smile on her face – she said that this dress was the one she had wanted to see me in following our chat. It was a gorgeous dress called ‘Frenchie’ designed by the talented Helen Rhiannon. I fell in love with it as soon as I tried it on. No others compared.
Now being petite and extremely curvy up top I knew that it would be a challenge to get the dress to fit my proportions. From the moment I met Helen, I knew that I was in safe hands. It amazed me that nothing was too much trouble, that a few drawings were all that she needed to be able to move my dress onto the next stage. Helen was extremely patient while I tried and failed many times to find a bra that I could wear under the dress and certainly didn’t despair when the only one I could find to fit was a dark grey – usually a no-no under a wedding dress. She worked with me to make my dress everything that I wanted it to be.
The original design came with a huge bow at the back. We decided it just didn’t fit my personality, so we changed it to a sash and added three gorgeous tonal flowers. We had to hide my bra and Helen came up with the perfect solution – add straps under the gorgeous lace. The dress then became the ‘Vicki’.
I never thought that I would be so comfortable, and feel so pretty in my wedding dress. I certainly wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Helen to anyone.
